    Renovate Building 333 for MV-22 Depot Maintenance Program, Naval Base Coronado, CA.

    Project Description

    Steelcore Electric, Inc. was subcontracted to demolish the entire electrical service system and various branch component in order to replace and install a new 1400 Amp, 480 Volt service fed by a 1500kVA substation to provide power for multiple electrical panels that serve loads ranging from high bay lighting to 400Hrtz converters for the MV-22 Aircraft that are serviced by maintenance crews and to install conduit for a new fire alarm system.

    Scope Of Work

    This project consisted of electrical safe off from the point of connection at the existing 1500kVA substation on the exterior of the building and demolish various electrical components to include the main interior switchgear and transformers located on a high bay mezzanine in the hanger. The new electrical system consisted of retrofitting the existing substation and install a new 1400 Amp main breaker to provide power for Building 333. The interior of the building was provided with new main electrical panel and transformers that fed various loads in addition to the 400Htz converters that are used to service the MV-22 Aircraft. Additional systems include a fire alarm conduit system and an underground static ground grid inside the existing hanger that required existing concrete to be demolished in order to dig trenches for static ground grid.
